Holds up to 50 lbs.! Why so STRONG?
The triangle is the strongest geometric shape known to man because it will keep its shape under extreme tension. The triangle has a characteristic shared by no other polygon, it is rigid. As force is applied to the vertex (or top peak) of the triangle, the force is deflected down the sides of the structure. The sizes of the angles do not change because the bottom (side opposite the vortex) holds the other two sides in place.) Trusses and bridges are made of triangles to retain its shape under stress.
Many famous buildings are built with triangles such as:
- The Eiffel Tower
- The Empire State Building
- The Slovak Radio Center
- The Egyptian Pyramids
- The Mayan Temples
